Acne Scar Treatments
No CommentsWelcome to My blog about Acne Scar Treatments.
Acne scar removal is an important step for people to help regain their confidence after years of fighting with these blemishes.
My mission is to provide you, with scientifically, accurate informations about acne scarring of the face, as well as potential treatments.
Deep facial acne scarring may not be relieved entirely, however, their appearance can be greatly improved.
I wish to help educate people with acne scars and hopefully improve
their understanding of what is available for them.Acne Scars are caused by body response to injury caused by inflammatory acne lesions. Most often scars result from sever cystic acne that occurs deep in the skin.
Most of the acne lesions that people calls scars are really not scars but instead post inflammatory redness that takes time to go away ( from six to twelve moths).
Permanent scars develop as the skin attempts to heal itself by surrounding the acne lesions with new skin.
There are different types of acne scars: they may be flat or like lumps; they can also form indentations if there is a loss of skin replaced by collagen.
Some people have a combination of different types of acne scars.
Early treatment of lesions is the best prevention for ugly scars.
However, if you have acne scars, keep in mind that different treatments are required for different situations.Depending on the type of acne scars you may decide what treatment to use.
For example, for pigmented scars, which are those pink or brown spots that remain on your skin, you can use bleaching creams with contain AHA (alpha hydroxy acids or glycolic acid), retinol, hydroquinone or other similar ingredients.
The effectiveness of these creams depends on many factors, such as the concentration of acid in the cream, the exposure time and the type of skin on which it is applied.
In most cases it takes 4 to 6 weeks to see the first results and at after three months, if you do not see any results, you need a stronger treatment. When there are many scars you can consider a chemical peel.
Chemical peel is a treatment performed by a dermatologist that stimulates the exfoliation of the skin by applying a chemical substance.
Side effects can be folliculitis, acute exacerbation of acne lesions, and hypopigmentation or hyperpigmentation. After making these treatments is necessary to protect themselves from the sun.
Instead, to eliminate the “holes” in the skin caused by acne, mechanical dermabrasion or laser treatment are necessary.Mechanical dermabrasion removes defects or imperfections of the skin. It involves an operation under anesthesia and a long recovery, at least three weeks. In addition, during this time is necessary to use bandages on skin. It should always avoid exposure to the sun. Often this acne scar treatment don’t give good results on the U-shaped scar and it can cause discoloration on darker skin.
Laser treatment, however, is less invasive, requires no anesthesia and the healing time is shorter. However side effects can be various forms of erythem and hyperpigmentation.
Another treatment for acne scars is microdermabrasion, a treatment that uses non-invasive and rapid aluminum oxide crystals to remove dead cells and thereby stimulating the formation of new ones, preventing further injury because it removes only the damaged layers of skin. It can be used on scars small and weak, but is not powerful enough for the scars caused by severe forms of acne.It is always advisable to consult a professional before starting any treatment, because each type of skin requires special treatment.
