The best way to prevent scars is to not do anything that makes matters worse.
If you not pick and oversqeezing blemishes, scarrig can be greatly reduced.

Using heaving or irritating facial products will also hinder the healing process.
Additionally, using ineffective topical disinfectants or exfoliants, can impede the skin’s ability to repair itself.

Patients with active acne present both ‘active’ (comedones, pustules, papules) and cicatricial lesions. An effective treatment must be undertaken in these patients to minimize existing scars and to prevent the development of new ones.

Treatment for acne includes a variety of oral and topical agents. Topical retinoids reduce the number of microcomedones, comedones, and inflammatory lesions. They may be used alone or in combination with other acne medications.
However, when these medications fails, treatments option include comedo removal, intralesional corticosteroid injection and acne surgery for pustules and cysts.

Those with the most severe types of acne may be given an even stronger vitamin-A related drug called Accutane (isotretinoin). Accutane is the only treatment that can potentially cure acne.
It should be used only for severe cases, not mild ones. It works by shrinking oil glands for one to two (sometimes three) years.

For severe acne, a new treatment that is much safer than Accutane has recently been developed. A treatment called Levulan PDT, or the “Blue Light Treatment,” is ideal for patients of all ages, including teens.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has also approved a nonlaser, narrow-band, high-intensity visible blue-light therapy for treating inflammatory acne. It works by killing the acne-causing bacteria, P. acnes.

Control of acne is a long term, continuing process. Follow the instructions of your doctor faithfully and regularly if you want prevent ugly scars!

Punch excision describes a technique of eliminating the scar through the use of a trephine. After infiltration of local anesthesia the smallest possible trephine that will completely remove the scar is used to punch- excise down to subcutaneous fat.
Depending on the size of the scar, a 1.5 to 3 mm biopsy punch is used to remove the entire defect and closed with sutures.

The downtime for Punch Excision of acne scars is approximately 1 week. Sutures are usually removed within 5-7 days, but there may be some residual bruising at the sites for a week or two.

Some of the punch excisions might be covered by insurance. I suggest you to check with your insurance provider. If not it should cost about $250 to $750 per punch excision.

Excision is recommended for icepick scars! Short downtime, pretty cheap and REAL improvement! 90% improvement!

This technique is aslo known as microlipoinjection or fat grafting; fat cells are tranferred from one part of a patient’s body to another to fill in defects such as acne scars.

The Surgeon cleans and numbs the site from wich the fat will be extract and the site to wich it will be transferred. Hi then withdrawsfat tissue with a siringe or a cannula similar of that used for liposuction, separates fat cells from the other tissue, and injects the cells into the approppriate site, repeating the process until it is necessary for a good result.

Possible complications include infection, scarring and nerve or blood vessel damage during surgery.
Discoloration and swelling can last for several days or weeks, depending on the size of the filled area.

Scars may be augmented with substances of varying duration. Some short-lived fillers, such as the collagens (Zyderm, Zyplast, Cosmoderm), will only last for 3, 4 months.

The most commonly used fillers for acne scars are those with a somewhat longer lifespan. Hyaluronic acid fillers (Restylane, Juvederm) last about 6 months.

Other substances can be used to correct scars and last years or even indefinitely.
Liquid silicone fills atrophic scars permanently due to the formation of collagen around silicone microdroplets.
This is a specialized technique performed by only a limited number of physicians.

Remember: there are many different types of acne scars (ice pick, box car, rolling type scars), and they must be approached using different techniques and combinations of techniques including lasers, acid peels and then fillers as a final therapy.

Like regular acne, back acne usually occurs around puberty, but it can continue into adulthood.
Being out of sight, back acne is often not serious enough to merit therapeutic attention. However, the lesions can become quite numerous and large in some individuals, even leaving shallow scars.
A diligently used combination of topical medications applied daily, especially immediately after exercising, is critical to bring back acne under control.
Sebaceous glands on the back are larger and produce more sebum than those on the face. These larger glands can produce more severe lesions such as nodules and cysts more frequently and these cysts cause scars.

If you have a very light case of back acne, I suggest you to simply apply a 10% alpha hydroxy acid.

If you have moderate to severe cases of back acne I suggest you to apply benzoyl peroxide and alpha hydroxy acid. It’s a very effective regimen.
For severe acne, consider Accutane to prevent severe back acne scars.

When washing your back, if you use a brush or loofah of some sort, always disinfect it at least once a week because it is a real breeding ground for acne causing bacteria.
Remember, the first thing you do is prevent new breakouts from occuring!

Personally, I fixed my mild back acne with apple cider vinegar and Tea Tree oil; this combination is a very effective exfoliant action and it work well also against moderate scars and hyperpigmentation on my back.

There are a lot of natural treatments you can use to fade fresh acne scars, you can simply combine these methods and they faded light scars in about a week :
1. Lemon Juice: use a cotton swab and rub a little bit of lemon juice on your acne lesion. Lemon juice contains a lightening agent, so it will help your scars fade.
2. Apple Cider Vinegar: mix 4 tablespoons of water with 2 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. Dip a cotton swab in the mixture and put it on your lesion to help them disappear.
4. Honey: put some honey on your face, and mix it with nutmeg and cinammon for an exfoliating action. Leave it on your face for about 30 minutes and wash it off. It should soften your skin, reduce redness, and fade scars.
5. Tomato: it contains vitamin A that helps new healthy, clear skin grow in very fast.
6. Use a gentle scrub daily to get rid of dead layers of skin, following up with toner and rosehip oil and/or light moisturiser.
7. vitamin E capsules: just use one capsule a day, just popping it open and rubbing it on the scar, and in no time the fresh scar should go away.
8. Lavender Oil: Application of Lavender oil on the acne scars can revitalize the skin as it has regenerative properties.

Remember: Home remedies are only useful for light acne scars but if you have secondary infection or deep scars, you should consult a qualified dermatologist.

It is applied to the scar after the skin has closed and is actively healing. Reduction in the size and intensity of the scar is typically observed within 2 weeks.

Scarfade works by causing a favorable shift in the production of growth factors (TGF, FGF) involved in the regeneration of skin. This shift reduces the over secretion of collagen. Scarfade theoretically regulates the growth factors that cause the excessive scars.

Scars actively heal for about two years. During this period, the fibroblasts cover the damaged area and form collagen wich generate scar tissue.
Consequently Scarfade is only effective during this two year active period.

Scarfade should be used for 12-16 weeks and applied twice a day, morning and evening.

I have been using Scar gel for almost one week 4x/day.My skin is beginning to heal and any pimples that occur(which I don’t touch by the way),have been healing in a few days.
The pimples on my nose(I have large pores),are healing for the first time in my life(nothing else worked). My skin glows and this product makes my skin tighter.Read about each ingredient and you will know that this product is the best,by far, than any for acne scars and any new acne that appears. It is half the price of Mederma as well.

What is Zenmed for Acne Scars?

It’s a kit including 2 products:

1) Renewing Microdermabrasion Complex: a granular clay mineral formulation to provide intensive dermabrasion on the surface of the skin.

This formula affords an immediate skin-smoothing effect and with regular, daily use, helps to visibly minimize discolorations and small marks on face.

The most common complaint about microdermabrasion creams, though, is that they cause adverse reactions like irritations or breakouts. Often, this is because the micro dermabrasion cream uses chemicals and irritants which don’t suit a freshly peeled skin. Zenmed Dermabrasion formulation contains only natural ingredients, is very gentle and highly effective for treating scarring on even the most sensitive of skin types.

After MicroDermabrasion Complex, apply sparingly to affected areas, rubbing in until fully absorbed.

This product should be used in the evening and the use of sunscreen is highly recommended. Sun exposure should be minimized.

2) Skin Eraser: It is an Ascorbic-Glycolic-Lactic acid product that effectively exfoliates the upper layers of the skin helping minimize imperfections, dullness, hyperpigmentation, discoloration, bumpiness and fine lines and wrinkles. Esthetician-grade 30% Glycolic Acid, pH 3.5.

These natural acids are also known as Alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA). They are naturally occurring acids, derived from sugars in particular plants or in milk. Some examples are Glycolic Acid (Sugar Cane), Lactic Acid (Milk), Tartaric Acid (Grapes), Citric Acid (Citrus Fruits), Malic Acid (Apples), and Mandelic Acid (Bitter Almonds). These acids work at the very base of the stratum corneum, dissolving the cement that holds dead skin cells together. This allows for an increase in cell turnover and influences the structure of new stratum corneum being made. The skin Eraser used a gentle lightening process that will not bleach or damage your skin.

My experience: Don’t expect it to completely remove your scars. Whether or not $60-70 for this product is worth it depends on how horrible your scars are, how much it bothers you and how much disposable income you have. For me, it was worth it.

I suggest you to read a very useful real experience about Zenmed Scar Kit Here.

Patients who delay starting antiacne medications for at least 3 years from acne onset, have a greater degree of scarring than those who start acne treatment earlier.
Isotretinoin (Accutane) theraphy is the only preoven cure of acne and should be instituted early in the course of severe acne to prevent scars.
Light therapy can also speed up the healing of active lesions, reduce inflammation, and improve or prevent acne scars.
Superficial chemical peels are also effective.

Wichever treatment you use, you may want to add a depigmenting agent to help prevent exacerbation of acne related skin darkening.

Sometimes treatment is begun too late or simply fails to prevent scars from forming. Some people are also prone to pigmentation and keloid formation. The less severe the acne, the less the risk of developing acne scars.

Remember:to give you the best results, a dermatologist will first treat the acne and get it under control. If you have a tendency to develop acne scars, new acne breakouts can lead to new acne scars.
